💭 What I’m thinking about
Are you indecisive? Do you like surprises?
If you answered YES to either or both of those questions, boy do I have a game for you! 😉
It’s called the Three Emoji Game and it involves, you guessed it, three emojis!
My partner and I started using it at some point over the last year to order take out and it has evolved into so much more… but I mostly use it with food-related questions.
It goes like this:
Ask someone to pick 3 emojis to describe their ideal meal/day/date.
Based on their emojis, pick a meal or plan the experience!
Now for some examples:
The other day, Sean was getting us lunch but we were both indecisive as heck on deciding what we wanted. I sent him 🌞 🥩 🥬 and he brought me back a Chipotle salad bowl.
It was my friends’ 1 year wedding anniversary and they hadn’t picked a dinner spot yet. They sent me 😋 🤩 ❗and I booked them a res at Shaya in NOLA and sent them the location to walk to.
For Sean’s birthday, he sent over 🍤 🌞 🍺, so I made a variation of these shrimp tostadas with mango instead of avocado.
It’s fun because it invites a little spontaneity (which has been linked to happiness) into something that could have been a) mundane or b) something you spent too long deciding on. Releasing the pressure to decide exactly what you want at that moment invites some curiosity about what the other person might deliver. In a relationship, it’s also a fun little experience to see how well you know each other.
And the best part? There are no wrong answers!
Unless of course you ask for tofu and get steak. 😬

🥗 My friend Avery just published her Greek salad recipe and I can’t wait to try!
🕊I just finished Bird by Bird by Anne Lamott and it was such an inspiring, yet refreshing and funny take on writing. Highly reccomend if you enjoy putting pen to paper (or fingers to keyboard).
🔌 I just got this 3-in-1 charger to make it easier to travel with all my Apple things. I now just use it as my day-to-day charger and it’s SO nice not having to plug things in 🙏. It’s expensive ( I personally didn’t want to mess with something not approved by Apple) but worth it.
